Program Entry: Enrollment may occur during any semester. Fall semester is the start of the program course sequence.

Award: Associate of Applied Science

Description: The program is designed to prepare students for an career working in the criminal justice system. Students will recieve a broad education that will allow them to be successful in positions in law enforcement, the court system, or the correctional system. 

Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will be able to apply fact-gathering process and report writing mechanics for criminal justice professionals.
  • Students will be able to articulate the historical development of constitutional law, the philosophy of law and the current impact on the criminal justice system.
  • Students will be able to examine the Constitutional and other legal principles and procedures affecting criminal procedure and the rights of the accused.
  • Students will be able to describe the criminal law to assist a prosecuting attorney or a criminal defense attorney/public defender in the areas of investigation and litigation.
  • Students will be able to analyze issues and external factors related to the professions of law enforcement, courts, and corrections.
  • Students will be able to examine the ethical considerations facing the criminal justice practitioner.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills learned in the criminal justice program during a 192 hour work experience with employers in a criminal justice related field.

Academic Requirements: Students enrolled must complete all required coursework with a “C-” grade or above and earn a minimum 2.0 grade point average to graduate from the program.
