Award: Associate of Applied Science degree

Description: The Agronomy and Crop Science program provides a blend of agronomy courses and practical application, ensuring a well-rounded agricultural education. During the program, students obtain knowledge of current and cutting-edge practices in crop production and technology. Upon graduation, students are prepared for a successful career in crop production, whether they choose to pursue a position in an agriculture business or a production operation.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will be able to apply plant biology, genetics, and physiology skills to improve crop yield and quality.
  • Students will be able to evaluate the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil as it relates to soil health and fertility.
  • Students will be able to identify common crop pests, diseases, and weeds, and the integrated pest management strategies to control them.
  • Students will be able to analyze the environmental and economic factors that affect crop production and the agricultural practices that mitigate their impact.
  • Students will be able to apply advanced technology and statistical methods to data related to crop production and management.
  • Students will be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders in the agricultural industry, including farmers, policymakers, and consumers.
  • Students will be able to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address challenges in the agricultural industry, such as climate change, food security, and sustainability.
