EDU 110 - Exploring Teaching

Introduces the teaching profession and field of education. Overviews the school as an institution of American society and gives a general history of U.S. education. Includes learning, curriculum, instruction in the (pre) K-12 system, current strategies and methods, assessment and technology, as well as diversity, the complexity of diverse learners, educational legislation and the role of teachers. Students will explore the foundation for becoming a reflective practitioner and will initiate professional portfolios based on national/state standards. Lecture Hours: 48 | Lab Hours: 0
